First visit to Kayakalp

Kayakalp is located at Palampur in Himachal Pradesh, a small hill town at an altitude of approximately 1300 meters. Palampur is also famous for its Himalayan brew of Kangra tea. Kayakalp is 3 km away from the town on Manali-Pathankot national highway towards Baijnath. Kayakalp is situated opposite to Agriculture University.

If you are coming by bus, one can get down at Chadhiar road stop. It is the point of main entrance to ‘Vivekanand Complex.’ The complex has two hospitals:- ‘Vivekanand Medical Institute (VMI)’ and ‘Kayakalp’. Former is dedicated to allopathy while latter is an AYUSH hospital. From the main entrance, as you walk past VMI, Kayakalp is approximately 400 meters away. Once reached Kayakalp, one should report to security staff at the gate. Depending upon the need, security personnel guides you to reception and registration counter. One can walk straight into ‘Treatment Block’ also, which is located right in front of the gate.

At reception, your desired accommodation is allocated and you will be guided to your room to settle down. Room attendant shall help you for a brief period. In case of any help, you can call for help through intercom. Once settled, you shall walk back to treatment block for completing registration process. You shall carry your identity proof. After registration and consent, staff shall guide you for further consultation with Doctor.

We have three departments – Naturopathy, Panchkarma and Physiotherapy. Each department has two Doctors. Primarily you can consult any of the Doctors to complete the examination process. Treatments are allocated as per health seekers’ need and you are referred to other department for further plan of care. In case you wish to consult a particular Doctor, you are free to do that. Once treatments are allocated, one should visit treatment section for securing appointment. Naturopathy and Physiotherapy sections are located on ground floor of treatment block while Panchkarma section is situated on first floor. Treatments commence between 9 am to 12 noon and from 2 pm to 4 pm. After your treatments, you shall visit to the doctor and provide your feedback. You can get your treatments written for the next day. It may help you to have a hassle free stay at Kayakalp.

For those willing to loose weight, and do not suffer any degenerative changes of joints, may attend ‘Power Yoga’ class in ‘Yoga Bhawan’ at first floor of treatment block. It is conducted daily, except on Sunday, between 11:30 am to 12:15 pm. Acupressure session is also available between 10:30 am to 12:30 pm and 3 pm to 4:45 pm adjacent to Yoga Bhawan. Gym facility is available between 9 am to 5 pm. It is located inside Physiotherapy section. Library is open between working hours. It is situated opposite to female Panchkarma section on first floor of treatment block.

Diet is prescribed by Doctors’ according to health needs of the seekers. It is essential to follow the rules for an optimum healing, in your best interest. Deviation in diet is not recommended; however if you may wish a change, speak to your doctor.
